So I went and saw the Black Panther Movie. I was trying not to judge it before I saw it, but the story line was exactly what I thought... Hollyweird is once again blatant in their aspiration to kill off the Black Man and leave the Black Woman standing all alone... I know it feels good for black women to see themselves In "powerful roles" but let's unpack for a second. What power was Shuri left with in the end? Her entire family had been killed off and Wakanda's security was clearly breached... Nakia was made to be an unwed baby mother left to raise a child on her own... Yes we are very powerful and capable as black women in these roles, but are these the images and stories we want to continue impressing upon the minds of our children.. The first ever black superhero that black children worldwide was excited to see, dies both in the movie and in real life! Do y'all really take this as just a coincidence! Are we really that easily swayed by bright lights and shiny things. Are there any other superheroes who died in real life and in the movie?? Do y'all know that the subconscious mind cannot distinguish between what is real and what is just a movie! And once your emotions become involved, it becomes a self perpetuating story that we continue to play out!!!! Anyhow, there is so much more to unpack! Who else watched the movie? What did you guys see?
